Day 6- First Day of School!!!

"Alright, we are excited. First day of school, here we go! We're ready to learn and get some knowledge!!" -Finding Nemo

That's right, kids! Today was my first day of school. It was a WONDERFUL day. I have a great teacher, who seems to be really excited about the new changes in the school curriculum. I'm pretty excited, too. Today was the first day of serving breakfast and dinner in the cafeteria. I love it. The food is pretty good, the staff is amazing, and I'm just having a great time. I can honestly say it'll be hard to leave, even though I miss home so much.

Today started out bright and early. I slept really well, and I was very happy! We had a delicious bagel breakfast, and then served it to the kids after we ate. It was great to see them all come in on Monday morning, ready to get started at school. My class was a little sleepy this morning, but we got through the day just fine. My favorite part of the day was Dine' Studies. We (my third graders and I) learn about the Navajo People (Dine') during this thirty minute time slot once a week. I learned some Navajo words today, but I have no idea how to spell them, so I won't even try!

After school, I had some down time to talk to my cooperating teacher and change clothes before dinner, which was delicious. If I hadn't said it already, I have been on the quest for Navajo Tacos for about three days now. This may not seem like a long time, but I've seen signs for them everywhere, yet I wasn't hungry once, and it was closed the other two times I tried. :/Even though the quest is still on, we had tacos for dinner tonight, and they were great. I'm looking forward to making fry bread this weekend with one of the staff at the school. She said she would teach us and maybe show us one of the fairs this weekend. Needless to say, I'm pretty pumped for this weekend!

After dinner tonight, we came back to the dorms to help with study hour. The little girls didn't have any homework, so we went to the boys' side and helped them. It was lots of fun, and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of the kids in the dorm. The boys finished up their homework, so I went over to the girls' side to see if any of the dorm aids needed help. They asked me to get some paper and crayons out for the girls to draw. We hung big pieces of butcher paper on the walls, and the girls drew on them.

After a very busy day, I'm exhausted, and I still need to take a shower so I can sleep an extra thirty minutes. Hope you all had a wonderful day, and if you're one of the people wondering about my mailing address, I have it figured out. Shoot me an email or a text message, and I'll send it individually instead of broadcasting it to the world on my blog. :)
