Day 0

Hi, all!

Tomorrow I embark on a wonderful journey to a new place. I'll be doing my student teaching at a school in Kayenta, Arizona for this semester. However, it hasn't started out as planned, so prayer is definitely needed in several situations. I will elaborate on some, but not all...

First, I had heard from one of the other student teachers that we would not be able to move into our dorms until after school on the first day. This was going to be difficult, given that most of us would be leaving on Wednesday, getting to Kayenta Friday or Saturday. We would need to find a place to stay for the weekend and get ready for Monday morning, without being oriented to the school at all. :/ However, I called the school today, and I will be able to move in on Friday. Yay!

Second, saying goodbye before the trip is one of the hardest things I'll do. I've already cried saying goodbye to a few of my friends and family, and it's just going to get harder. Tonight will be the worst, though, because I'll be saying goodbye to my parents, then going to Rusty's empty apartment to spend the night by myself until he gets home from work. Then we leave. :)

Last, but not least, I am worried/excited to have a two and a half day road trip. The longest road trip I've ever done was to Florida, so this will be different. Luckily, Rusty will be along for the ride, so I will have a co-pilot/co-driver, but then I will need to drop him off at the airport in Albuquerque and make the rest of the trip on my own.

Here's the (tentative) schedule of my trip:

8/15/12:
Leave at 6:15 AM from Indianapolis.
Stop around lunch time in Lebanon, MO, to eat with Rusty's grandparents.
Arrive in either Tulsa or Oklahoma City, OK, around 7 PM.

8/16/12:
Leave Tulsa or OKC around 8 AM.
Arrive in Albuquerque around 7 or 8 PM.

8/17/12:
Rusty's flight leaves at 8:43 AM, so he'll be there around 6:30, and I'll leave shortly after that.
Arrive in Kayenta, AZ, around lunch time, move in, and be oriented. :)

And there you have it! I will be updating and adding photos periodically. I downloaded the Blogger app for my phone, so we'll see how it works on the road. Please keep my journey in your prayers; they are very much needed!

  1. I'll pray for you, but I know its gonna be AWESOME!!! I also know how difficult it is to move. :/ But, in my experience the worry is much worse than anything that actually happens. Love ya! Have fun! And make sure to check out Antelope Canyon if you can!!
